Jon Ferrone

M.M. and B.M. Mannes College of Music. Studied David Taylor, John Rojak, and David Finlayson. A freelance musician in the NY metropolitan area, trombonist Jon Ferrone is a frequent performer in the Symphonic, Jazz, Theatrical, Chamber, Commercial, Solo, and Rock genres, in such diverse venues as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Kimmel Center (Philadelphia), NJPAC, The Waldorf-Astoria and Plaza Hotels, The Meadowlands, and Madison Square Garden, and has worked under the batons of conductors Kurt Masur, David Zinman, and JoAnn Falletta. Performed as an orchestral musician with the NY Philharmonic, NJ Symphony, National Repertory, Princeton Symphony, NJ Ballet, New Jersey Pops, and Garden State Philharmonic Orchestras, as well as the NY Chamber Sinfonia, Bronx Arts Ensemble, Dicapo Opera Theater, Cirque Musica, and the Choral Societies of NY and NJ. Member of several jazz bands and has been the bass trombonist with The Garden State Concert Band since 2000, has performed with the Richie Cecere, was principal trombonist of the Orchestra of the Full Gospel Church from 2004-2007, and has worked with The Gramercy Brass Band, The Manhattan Brass Quintet, and the Queens Festival Band. Musical theater performances include Annie, Anything Goes, Assassins, Bye Bye Birdie, Cabaret, Carousel, Chess, Crazy For You, Fiddler On The Roof, Guys And Dolls, Hair, Jekyll And Hyde, Les Miserables, Little Women, Miss Saigon, The Music Man, My Fair Lady, The Mystery Of Edwin Drood, Oliver, Pippin, The Producers, Shrek the Musical, Sugar, Sunset Boulevard, Swing, West Side Story, 42nd Street, and 1776, and has been the bass trombonist for the Plays in the Park Orchestra (Edison, NJ) since 2008. At the age of 20, played in the orchestral accompaniment for Olivia Newton-John’s world tour, and has been a featured soloist with the Irish Tenors. Has recorded for Norwegian Cruise Lines, Art Watch, Shout Audio Productions.
