The newest addition to The Rock Shop faculty, keyboardist John Freund has over 25 years of on-stage gigging experience, primarily in Rock and Rock-related genres, including Blues, Funk, Soul and Americana. Most notably, he has played and/or recorded with Joey Molland (Badfinger), platinum-selling emo-rock band Paramore, Mike Jackson and the Soul Providers (the forerunner of Dapkings), Rod Morganstein, Andy Timmons, Deep Banana Blackout, Bigger Than a Breadbox, HSG, Mexican Mud, and xMembers. In 2006, John toured Europe with the blues band The Healers! He currently gigs around the tri-state area with the ultra-flexible unBrothers.
An Indie-International Competition top prize winner, John’s songs and incidental music has been heard in films, plays and television. He has two albums of original material with his band Bigger Than a Breadbox, and has contributed to the recording ventures of countless. John’s studio expertise includes session and album work as a bandleader, sideman on keyboards, singer, producer, arranger, digital editing and virtual instrument programming.
John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School. He is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers. We fully intend to put John’s many talents to good use coaching our students here at The Rock Shop!
