Please welcome Dancer/Choreographer Mariel Letourneau!
Our incredible new dance pro, Mariel Letourneau, is a New York/New Jersey based professional dancer, choreographer and performer, whose work includes a wide variety of musicals, solo pieces, ensemble pieces, music videos, and competition pieces. A graduate of the University of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, she has also trained and performed with the Radio City Rockettes.
As an educator, Mariel has taught many styles of dance including, but not limited to, jazz, tap, ballet and musical theater at the Ballet Guild in Pennsylvania and the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood, as well as in private lessons. Her students have ranged in age from beginner three-year-olds to advanced college-prep dancers.
Mariel’s resume as a choreographer includes everything from school productions to professional NYC theaters. She has choreographed 42nd Street and Cats at the Bergen Performing Arts Center, A Funny Thing Happened at the Forum at the Old Library Theatre, HONK! at Stagedoor Manor, The Wedding Singer at the PA Playhouse, and the world premiere of the Stalingrad Ballet at University of the Arts. Most recently, she choreographed and co-produced America’s professional premiere of The Dreaming (a musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream) at the Chain Theatre in Long Island City NY, workshopped a new musical soon to be performed in the Thespis Theatre Festival and off-Broadway at the Elektra Theatre, and choreographed Aida at the Old Library Theatre in Fair Lawn NJ.
In addition to her work as a dancer/choreographer, Mariel is also a singer, actress and model, on stage and film. Her professional performance credits include the national tour of Tony ‘n Tina’s Wedding; the off-off-Broadway production of Seduction: A Rock Opera; Regional theater productions include Curtains at the Walnut Street Theatre, The Secret Garden, Company and Ragtime with Pleasant Valley Productions, and 42nd Street at the Bergen Performing Arts Center. Her television and commercials credits include The Second: Anaplastic Productions, Coca-Cola/Allentown Phantoms, Rumi’s Rumba: NYFA, and Immortal Enemies: Sycamore Street Productions.
A meticulous teacher of dance technique, Mariel is highly collaborative with her students to enhance their creativity and love of dance. We’re delighted to announce that she will be teaching Triple Threat Musical Theater, Ballet and Tap (in both our Early Childhood and Dance programs) here at The Ridgewood Conservatory.
